some successful before and afters

There were so many decisions and so. much. labor. over the Fall months. We moved with momentum until mid-November when we heard that the developer had hired their own lawyer. This was the first we heard from them in months and we had no idea why. It was several days of waiting and practicing giving our worry to God each time our hearts were anxious. After all this work would we now own TWO broken houses? Were they backing out? Had we made a poor decision by not putting more pressure on them to close the deal?

One day as I was praying, God again reminded me that He is so much bigger than what we see. Even if we had been "naive", we had acted in faith in what we believed was a right response. And God hadn't changed, He deserves the glory yesterday, today, and forever.

Pushing forward we made some progress in our goal of being able to move in. The bedrooms were the "simplest" to remodel with major cleaning, patching sheetrock, refinishing floors, installing new ceiling fans and painting.

The bathroom renovation was far from simple, but it was relatively free from setbacks. Thomas did the majority of the work himself. I am most impressed by his ability to lay tile and build beautiful trim.

Pink tile, paint, toilet, vanity.

Another rotten floor and more uneven, uninsulated studs.

Waterproofing floors and walls.

Tile and grout.

So many trips to Lowes and Home Depot.

Ta-da!

Going into the holidays we still were living in half-packed disarray, daily working on the renovation, and praying that the deal would close. Little did we know what a protection it was that we didn't have to move sooner.

Psalm 46:1-2 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains fall into the heart of the sea."

Psalm 62:1-2 "For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken."
